2009 Connected Learning Conference
Transforming Learning and Teaching

The Department's 2009 Connected Learning Conference: Transforming Learning and Teaching was held on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 July 2009 at the Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach hotel. Over 460 conference delegates - a full house - were inspired by high-quality speakers and enthusiastic workshop presenters.
The professional learning conference focussed on a range of issues critical to positive learning outcomes for students such as the use of digital and interactive technologies and curriculum options across communities of schools. Key strategies such as the NSW Quality Teaching model were also highlighted.
The conference featured keynote addresses from academics and practitioners in the field who explored these issues and ways of integrating collaborative technologies in teaching and learning. To access short biographies of these speakers and their keynote resources go to Keynotes.
The Regional Showcase presentation eiteach - Quality Teaching Powered by High Quality Technology highlighted an initiative coordinated through Western NSW Region but including New England, North Sydney and Riverina Regions. The eiteach initiative is the Australian version of the North American Professional Learning package emints developed by the University of Missouri and invovles groups of teachers being trained to develop 'pods of excellence' across their immediate communities of schools.
