Why Early Years of Schooling?
The Early Years of schooling are critical for providing children with the foundations for lifelong learning so that they become literate, numerate, well-educated citizens with the capabilities and confidence to make a positive contribution to society.
The transition from home to school is a very significant event in the lives of young children. Providing a safe and supportive school environment in the Early Years can have far reaching effects in terms of a student’s future.
The Early Years of schooling are vital for engaging children in their learning, providing opportunities for success and connecting them to their school community. Positive Early Years experiences help to build resilience and a sense of achievement and belonging. These are powerful protective factors in the lives of children and young people.
This conference will explore approaches to making teaching and learning effective, relevant and engaging for students in the Early Years of schooling to help them learn, grow and achieve.
Who should attend?
Teachers, executive, principals and managers from preschools, primary and central schools, regional and State Office staff who are involved with, and interested in improving learning outcomes for students in the Early Years.
