Learning, Growing, Achieving

Students

The 2008 Middle Years Conference was held on 7 and 8 October at the Novotel Brighton Beach Hotel, Sydney. Over 320 conference delegates were inspired by high-quality speakers and enthusiastic workshop presenters.

International and local keynote speakers shared their insight into how children acquire numeracy skills, how schools can foster resilience and student wellbeing, links between mental health and ICT and how the educational experiences of students in the Middle Years can impact on their decisions to continue in education. To access short biographies of these speakers go to Keynotes.

A highlight of the conference was the showcase presentations. In the Schools Showcase Bulahdelah Central School outlined how they use Web 2.0 technology to engage Middle Years students and Campbelltown Performing Arts High School outlined how they use cross-faculty projects to improve engagement in Stage 4.

In the Regional Showcase a group of schools from the Peninsula Network of Northern Sydney Region outlined how teachers, students and parents, as well as university partners, formed new relationships in authentic, engaging project-based learning.
